His Stepson Wears Lace (Daddy Tales #1) by Kelex

Summary: Anson goes home early to make one last-ditch effort and finds his wife finally wearing the gorgeous lingerie he’d bought her several months before. He knows that sex can’t be the only basis of a healthy relationship, but he can’t contain his lust when he sees her decked out in all that silk and lace. He sidles up behind her—hungry, hard, and ready. After a line is crossed, he realizes it’s his stepson… not his wife… and both their worlds are turned upside down forevermore. – Goodreads

What I Think: Hello, Everyone! it’s been a while. My health has left me quite incapacitated lately as pain rises, leaving me in Stephen Hawking’s mode. If only I were that intelligent.  It’s been so long that I am as terrified as when I made my first blog post, but my biggest fear is that I may have lost my touch. Now, this is really a taboo tale for me and my intro to Mme. Kelex. Let’s take a breather before diving in while I explain. Coming from an abusive background involving a stepparent, there was no way I was going to read this. I was just too terrified it would be a possible trigger (yes, we’re in therapy now and see how smart we’re getting). But I made one mistake that I should know better by now – I read the summary and it had lots of my favorite tropes – age gap, size gap, effeminate men that deserve to be spoiled and cuddled and a daddy who’s been waiting his whole life for this. Was I really supposed to say no? With that, let’s dive in! When I met Jeremy, I could not wait for two things – for him to feel comfortable in his skin and for the kind of lover he needs to show up.

As things begin to unfold, I saw hopelessness but like Jeremy, also began to live in the moment. How could I not when Anson was everything we’d hoped for but didn’t dare even dream about? Warning-  Rant ahead:  I don’t know if parents realize that to their children they are gods? Because if they did, they will know that every effing thing they do can make or mar their kids. And, they will step as lightly as a Ninja ballet dancer, as carefully as a chicken handles their eggs. Above all,  they would know that real, unconditional love never spoiled any child. If you’re not willing to be watched with a magnifying glass or to be copied and pasted, please don’t have kids. I don’t know about other continents, but in West Africa, It’s just cycles of continuous hurt and abuse, after all, hurt people hurt people, right?  Wrong! You can choose to break the jinx. Make the right choice and fix yourself first. Rant Over. Whew! That was a long one.

This one was brought on by Jeremy’s mum. The more I see how Jeremy retains his true self in spite of his upbringing, the more I adore him which makes me so suspicious of Anson. But, Anson no drop my hand (Naija speak – did not disappoint me) as he swept my suspicions away and had me hoping Jeremy would have enough faith in himself to stay the distance. The simple way these 2 envelope each other, dishing out tenderness, erotica, and true love in places I didn’t expect to find them, made me want so bad.  As strong, loving Anson steps up again and again, my beautiful Jeremy blooms like a sunflower basking in special sunlight. I lost control of the waterworks the first time Jeremy had a date as his true self but this didn’t stop me from doing a Google search to be sure the leather harness  I had in mind really fits.  It did.   The ending of the tale had these eyes prickling again. I wasn’t ready to let go yet.  I needed to know what Jeremy would be like after five or ten years of the right kind of love only for the waterworks to spill because Madame Kelex gave me everything I need. I owe you a juicy Casamancaise pineapple. Do you even like pineapple?

Verdict? A keeper of a tale that proves your difference doesn’t make you weird, sick, or rotten. Meeting your person is worth waiting for so hang on!

  2. What a wonderful review. I can scarce wait to read it…ergo proving that you most definitely have NOT lost your touch. As if that were e’er possible, for you have a rare and precious gift for weaving words that wind their way around your heart, even as you delight in their inimitable mischief and magic. I’m so sorry you’re suffering such pain…and moreso, for every suffering life has heaped upon your head with such heinous alacrity. PS. Your rant was sublime…every word a gem, and I couldn’t agree with you more.
